Daily Review: Double, Double Toil and Truffle by H.Y. Hanna

A fun paranormal cozy murder mystery series that will keep you guessing with its surprise ending.

Caitlyn Le Fey is enjoying her first autumn in England, nut-picking in the forest, creating delicious treats in her grandmother’s enchanted chocolate shop, and dreaming of cosy evenings with the handsome Lord James Fitzroy.

But the peace is shattered when a mysterious woman claiming to be a witch arrives in the village. Some love her, others fear her… and one person is driven to murder.

Soon Caitlyn finds herself drawn into a mystery with links to ancient witch trials and–with the help of her toothless vampire uncle and a few magical spells of her own–she sets out to do some sleuthing. But strange things are happening, and Caitlyn is worried and confused.

Why isn’t her kitten Nibs growing any larger? What does the new guest at Huntingdon Manor really want? And what is the jewel that seems to be exerting a sinister influence over her cousin Pomona?

There are dark forces gathering in the village of Tillyhenge, and Caitlyn is about to discover that the savage tradition of witch-hunting is still very much alive…

I always enjoy Ms. Hanna’s description of the small English Cotswold village, the Manor Estates and the countryside. I like how the main characters are normal people with extraordinary witchy talents. I also like how Ms. Hanna’s books include several “conflicts” that meld into an interesting story. Looking forward to the next one! people with extraordinary witchy talents.

Wow what a roller coaster ride in this episode! I love the characters and how they have developed throughout the series. Caitlyn has so many questions plaguing her mind, the biggest one being who was her mother, where is she and why was she left by the wayside to be adopted.

Her grandmother, the widow Mags and her aunt Bertha have answers but won’t talk about it, and her Fruit Bat Vampire guardian, Vicktor must have answers. Will she finally find out?

Then there is a new witch that has come to town which to Caitlyn, her cousin, Evie and Pomona as well as her grandmother and aunt know she is a con artist. The problem is she is conning a lot of the villagers and must be stopped.

However, when she is murdered, that wasn’t what anyone had in mind and Caitlyn felt she had to investigate since another visitor came to the town…a friend of Lord Fitzroy who is an adamant Witch hunter and wants to find them and kill them! We also have a continuation of Lord James Fitzroy and Caitlyn’s relationship getting muddled.

We also have the comic relief of Caitlyn’s cousin Evie who although a witch has trouble harnessing her ability to use her powers and makes an hysterical mistake in trying to punish the snobby High School girls who constantly pick on her.

I laughed to hard! The comic relief, sarcasm and craziness with Uncle Vicktor kept me laughing throughout! This is a fun paranormal cozy murder mystery series that will keep you guessing with its surprise ending and laughing at the same time.

I can’t wait for book 7 to come out since the author has so many ways she can go with all the unanswered questions!
