In this third book of the John Canon series, Author John Howell has amped up the action. Matt Jacobs is determined to capture national hero, Attorney, John Canon, and force Canon to join with him in murdering the President and destroying America.

There are explosions, car chases, harrowing airplane trips and even F18 fighter plane rides in the race to evade capture and/or death at the hands of Jacobs. Canon manages to stay one step ahead and with Stephanie Savard at his side, finds not only an ally and but, perhaps even love.

Sheriff Ned Tranes takes the brunt of attacks in his attempt to protect John and when he gets shot, is forced to sit on the sidelines for a while. But, not for long.

In this book, Howell takes us deep inside the mind of a terrorist, Matt Jacobs, and shows how committed he is and how much he believes in his cause.

Matt Jacobs sees America as Satan and the president as the leader of Satan and feels fully justified in committing murder to bring the country to its knees. And, in that process, securing himself a place in heaven. Murder in the name of Allah.

But, he underestimates John Canon. And it helps that a bit of betrayal is added into the mix.

Having read and thoroughly enjoyed both My GRL and His Revenge I was in need of an action fix and eager to begin reading this novel which is book 3 of this fast paced trilogy.

Unlikely hero John J. Cannon had proven himself adept at escaping the attempts by a terrorist bent on an insane need for revenge against The United States of America and more specifically her President.

Matt Jacobs is wealthy, powerful and determined to succeed at any cost. He wants John J Cannon, and the action in this novel ramps up to breath holding sequences that leave the reader hanging on for a shattering climax.

Author John W. Howell doesn’t disappoint on any level.

His characterizations are cleverly subtle, allowing the reader to visualize the potent scenes without overwhelming them with too much description.

This author commands the attention with a clear gift at plot structure, and superb pacing that will leave you immensely satisfied as Our Justice reaches its unpredictable and shattering climax.

This book would make a great action movie, the kind that my husband loves – an exciting chase and tons of explosions. John Cannon is a lawyer who ended up on the wrong side of a multi-millionaire, maniacal terrorist, one Matt Jacobs.

Jacobs likes to blow things up, and there isn’t much in this book that doesn’t explode – from cars to houses, helicopters, and planes. Jacobs goes to great lengths to kill Cannon, but it’s not quite that straight forward given his diabolical plans.

Howell starts the action off in the first chapter and doesn’t let up until the end. The point of view is Cannon’s, a good guy though he’s a well-rounded character and has his flaws.

Characterization is consistent, and the plot holds together well. Howell leaves room for a love interest, but the chase is the main focus for three-quarters of the book at which point things go from bad to worse.

I hadn’t read the first books in this series when I picked this one up, but Our Justice does fine as a stand-alone and doesn’t bog the reader down with backstory.

It will appeal easily to readers of action novels.
